The visual effect crew talk about the challenges they faced when they are required to make a believable tsunami that sweeps even the highest peak of the Himalayas.

AceShowbiz - A behind-the-scenes look at "2012 (2009)" has been made available to view. Put out via Yahoo! Movies, the two-minute featurette centers the attention on the creation of one of the cataclysmic events, the massive tidal waves. It features commentary from the visual effect team as well as director Roland Emmerich.

Emmerich shares his concern over the tidal waves sequences, reasoning that he has to hand over the work to visual effect team. In the meantime, the VFX people open up about the challenges they had to deal with when presented with the task to generate "a tidal wave of immeasurable proportion" believable.

Interlacing the prophecy in Mayan calendar with natural disasters, this global disaster movie presents an epic adventure about a global cataclysm leading to the end of the world. Despite its end-of-the-world tone, this disaster movie will focus more on the heroic struggle of the survivors. John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt and Woody Harrelson are among the cast.

Days earlier, a five minutes extended clip was released by Fancast.com. It offers a look at how Jackson Curtis, his two kids, ex-wife Kate and Kate's new boyfriend escape death when massive earthquake tears down Los Angeles. It also gives a sneak peek at how the city of angels comes to its doom before the eyes of those characters. "2012" will shake U.S. theaters on November 11.
