Contrary to earlier reports, Neve Campbell has apparently signed on to return as Sidney Prescott for "Scream 4". Variety reported the head of Dimension Films, Bob Weinstein, himself has brought up the news when announcing a new slate of movie projects the studio is putting into production.
The leading lady of the first three "Scream" films will join her returning castmates, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, when production is kicked off in April or May of 2010. This news debunked previous speculation that her character has to be scrapped off from the new installment due to her refusal to get involved.
Back in June, screenwriter Kevin Williamson sparked rumor that Campbell has said no to the fourth film after posting a message in his Twitter page. "Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won't do it. This sucks," he revealed. At the time, it was claimed that Campbell's tight schedule reportedly became the reason behind her refusal to be involved.
"Scream 4" is intended to be a younger version of the "Scream" trilogy. It will be developed as the first of a new trilogy. On his statement of going back to his franchise films, Bob Weinstein also confirmed that director Wes Craven is in talks to helm the project. Previously, Craven didn't officially approve the idea to helm the movie project, but he was reported to consider it if the script is proven to be his liking.

If neve campbell do not play in scream 4 I will not go see it. Scream is the best movie ever ever ever ever made. My love for this movie is unspoken I cannot describe in words. My scream house trilogy sits on my t.v. and has been for years. No one can put their hands on it. I will go crazy!

dear craven I think NEVE CAMPBELL should play in SCREAM 4 I watch SCREAM movies over and over.Sidney Prescot is my favirot chariter in these movies I am 11 years old.Im in 5 grade I always wanted to be on one of the SCREAM movies!Iwant to be the sister or daghther of Sidney Prescots.The second person Ilike the best is Courtney Cox (staring)Gail Weathers!3 is David Arecett (staring)Dewey his real name on the movie is Dewight!4 is Drew Barrymore (staring)KC!SO I dont want any one of those charecters to be out of the movies!NOT EVEN TO DIE!KC AIREADY HAS ON SCREAM 1!

Neve has agreed to come back because they are finally tying up all the storylines in this next film. One recurring theme in every chapter of Scream was motherhood, (Sidney’s mother, Billy’s mother, Sidney’s half-brother’s lack of a mother) and finally Sidney will be facing her worst threat yet while trying to rescue the closest person to her heart..her daughter. The first scene in the 4th film has been said to involve a babysitter watching a girl and being hunted by the new killer, and the parents coming home just in time to save their daughter. The mother being revealed as Sidney herself. The film will take place in a gated community in southern California, with the new killer hunting down Sidney’s family and her surrounding housewife/family neighbors. Gale and Dewey have obviously married but are sticking to the ‘motherhood’ theme as well…they are having a tremendous struggle bearing children. Gale has fears that she is barren, and attaches herself to Sidney’s young daughter strongly because of this. *SPOILERS* The killer is also being talked about as a mother herself. Yes a woman! In the beginning there is a flashback scene involving Sidney in a nasty car accident while she was pregnant and she has recurring dreams about this as it was the biggest threat against her then unborn daughter. At the end of the film, the killer is revealed to be one of the housewife neighbors that is one of the many new characters that are introduced in the film. This ‘housewife’ has been carefully planning her attack ever since Sidney hit HER in the car accident. She was pregnant as well..and the crash killed her unborn child. Unable to conceive as a result of this, she makes it her vendetta to take from Sidney what she rightfully deserves. A daughter of her very own.
