"Live Like We're Dying", the first single off 's not-yet-titled debut album, has been released. Stopping by New York radio station Z100 on Monday morning, September 21, the "" season 8 champion debuted his cover version of 's 2008 song of the same name.

Dropping in the radio station to promote the single, the 24-year-old shares his excitement on hearing his song on the airwaves to radio DJ Elvis Duran and the Z100 morning-show team. "It was really cool. You dream of this day, you dream of having a single out and having it on the radio, so this was a cool day," he said.

And I'm actually going to London to work with them again."

It's a catchy song. I don't know what all the fuss is about it being a cover song. Lots of famous singers have had hits with cover songs. And, really, I've never heard it before. I bet most people haven't. So The Script is probably pretty happy to have all this publicity. It's the first time I've ever heard of them. Focus on the song. It's a catchy tune. I like it.

I don't get the comments. I don't like this song. I am not an Adam Lambert fan. Are we to assume that the world loves Kris and only Adam Lambert fans fans are the only ones tha criticise? If so, I'm living proof people that you got it wrong.

For some reason have listened to the song 10 times and I can't seem to remember it!!! I like the song but it's not one that sticks in your head!! Love Kris but very poor song selection!

Awesome. I dont think its all Adam fans that are bitter... just the sore losers and I love that Adam himself tweeted and facebooked in support of kris' single <3

Why do some bitter Adam fans feel the need t continually put Kris down? If Kris is successful, does that mean Adam won't be? I don't think so. One guy's success or failure has nothing to do with the other's success or failure. And there is plenty of room is the music business for BOTH Kris and Adam. By the way, Allison's first single reportedly is going to be a cover also. So are the Glamberts going to rip on Adam's OTHER best friend from Idol when that drops? It is this handful of bitter, nasty "fans" who give Adam's fanbase a bad name. By the way, Kris' single is very catchy and well sung. It has the potential to be a hit, cover or no cover.

This is a very catchy and fun song that utilizes Kris' talents. The song may be a cover, but Kris has made it his own. As far as the Glamberts go, please get a life. What do you think you're accomplishing, except making yourselves looks really stupid.

Wow!!!I think there is a lot of bitterness for nothin. I love all kinds of music and all kinds of artist. Why can't people just enjoy the tunes, go out and buy it that is what helps the artist. I imagine when all the idols have their cd come out, it will be news and many will get the cd's Allison and Matt are amazing. None of the idols talk about eachother why can't the fans learn from them.

All the idols went on the show for exposure to get into the industry. All of them will find their way. None of the past Idols are forgoteen even if they did not make it they are still loved by the ones that voted for them. After Idol, no one can vote for them but to support them in sales. So, if you voted for him, buy his single. No wars with that

first, stop hating ppl, the competition is OVER!I love both Kris and Adam, two very different artists, will support both, but I have to be honest, I just cant hear Kris in this song. Maybe I was hoping for something like "falling slowly", but I am so disappointed that Kris was given this lame song as his first single. As Kris himself said, America is the worst ADD country, he needed to move fast to keep and expand his fanbase, and this song is just not cutting it...

everyone is entitled to their opinion--but these people who go bashing others are really miserable people = to have to search all of these sites possible so they can criticize in the most evil and wicked ways. i have begun to pray for peace and for salvation for you. the more you chose to bash the more i will pray Kris is a great guy and genuine in every way. I wasn't happy about the cover either at first--but it has an excellent message and has already touched people's lives. Just how much say does he have in all of this anyway? I like it more and more just like no boundaries grew on me too

Hate to break it to you people but the competition between Kris and Adam is over...please move on. They can both be very successful without taking anything away from the other. Please stop all this bashing of each other...it's pathetic. I am a glambert and resent all the negative comments that you people make against us. I have nothing but well wishes for Kris and for all the rest of the top 10. I hope they all have successful careers. That being said, I like Kris's debut. It is a catchy tune and I was singing it all day on Monday. I was a little disappointed that it was a cover, but I think he did a great job on it. I am looking forward to hearing what else he's come up with. And BTW Kris did say in several interviews that his album would be similar to what he did on the show.

Some of Adam fans are just shocked. They had labelled Kris as boring, bland an every nasty word you could think of. And there we are he comes out with a catchy, radio-friendly and what so far, many music critics have predicted as a hit and they are feeling insecure again. Go to hell all of you. Who are you to say it's the end of someones career. Jive knows exactly how to sell Kris. He is the first male idol winner on Jive label and they are already showing signs of good promotion for him. Kris' talent is what is going to make him successful. He even said he has a song he solely wrote on the album called "Ineed to know" and a lot of co-written ones. this means Jive respects him and he's had more co-writes than any of his colleagues. Singles are supposed to grab new fans outside idol and this move by Jive is just perfect.

OMG! This 'Betty' so-called person posted the exact same comments on a couple of other sights. Wow! She sure sounds like and angry, evil B.tch! I say, congrats and good luck Kris. Love ya!

Well betty Fantasia is more then just a possible answer on trivial pursuit. She was named the GREATEST idol contestant of all time by MTV putting Cook, Clarkson and Underwood UNDER HER. So perhaps you need to check your facts hon. 1. Fantasia Barrino There has never been a better singer and performer in "Idol" history than Barrino, whose takes on Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" and — most notably — "Summertime" from "Porgy and Bess" (which left her in tears) have become the stuff of "AI" legend. Simon Cowell called her the greatest contestant not just in "American Idol" history, but in the entire international history of the show as well, and we're not gonna disagree with him. Add to that the controversy surrounding her near-elimination, her personal struggles (which were so compelling that it spawned a best-selling autobiography and a highly rated Lifetime movie), and her post-show success (gold and platinum records, plus the role of Celie in the Broadway version of "The Color Purple," which drew raves), there's no one who comes close to matching Barrino. She's the total package. And the greatest "Idol" contestant of all time.

Really disappointing on many levels. It is a cover that sounds way too much like the original. The title is way to close to Tim McGraw's smash, 'Live like you were dying' which will confuse people. He raps it more than he sings it. It sounds way too much like the style used by Season 2 finalist Josh Gracin on his first release. Where is Kris's promise to do pretty much like he did on the show. I flat out hate it.

Wow a lot of Glamtards are posting stuff. Funny someone caught you guys...lol If you want to see some good Glambert tarding go check out Idle Tards. No wonder Adam calls his tards "smelly". Kris's song is ok, but would love to hear an acoustic version of the song.

Here you are; Fri, 06/05/2009 - 02:59 — Marie4thofJuly I am 54 and my neighbor is 74, but we both saw the same thing. An amazing vocalist and a true rebel just like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash were. Your fans are all across the spectrum that is America! I thank you for being a true visionary. I have been waiting a long time for the next cultural "wave" as you put it in one interview. Thank you for being you! I have already lived through the folk singer wave and frankly, had enough the first time. Good luck on the tour! And please, give us more. I bought it all on Itunes and have watched the videos and listened to the studio versions and am just in awe of your talent. I lived next door to a budding record producer at age 5 and loved the sounds coming out of his garage, then later his studio, as we both grew older. I also worked for a talent agency early in my career, so I have a firm foundation for saying WOW! Someone as OLD as you attacking a young person like Kris. You are one hateful OLD woman.

MM you're a Glambert. Your handle is Marie4thofjuly. You have gone to every Kris Allen article and posted the same exact thing and you are busted. You are not a Kris Allen fan, but you are so hateful and spiteful because Kris won MONTHS AGO and even Adam, who is Kris's friend, is ok with that. Adam loves Kris, but a few mental midget Glamberts, like yourself, go around to every Kris post and try to bad mouth him. The main Adam fans are happy for Kris, but idiots like you are ignorant and go around and post your stupidity. I connected your handle MM with Marie4thofjuly because you posted the same thing thing on another board and it is easy to do Google search. You are busted Marie4thofjuly aka MM aka Jennifer, who is now writing "Not a Lambert fan", but YOU ARE. sad. Cuz Kris and Adam are good friends and you're an idiot. Idiots like you give Glamberts a bad name.

I am very disappointed that he did a cover for his first single. I would think he would have done something original. Not bad but not great either. And not liking it has nothing to do with being an Adam fan......so stop bashing the Glamberts!!

Terrible. The fact that it's a cover makes it even more sad. Couldn't he find a GOOD song to rip off?

I love Kris and all, but a cover song for his DEBUT single? SERIOUSLY? (let's forget "No Boundary" ever existed. That was obviously Kara D's joke on him.) I know Kris probably isn't the one to blame on a decision like this. SO WHAT WERE JIVE AND 19 THINKING? They probably didn't care about his career enough to give him a decent enough ORIGINAL song to be his debut single, or they're just having really bad judgment, like they always have.

I love it! Kris' version is close to the Script's version but I don't care. It's Kris that will make it a hit with his smooth vocals. Love the catchy tune - can't get it out of my head - and love the positive message. Can't wait until it's available to download. Can't wait for the album! Go Kris!

Love Kris' new single. Kris is amazing and has a beautiful voice. The haters need to crawl back into the woodwork. This song was given to Kris by The Script. I think it's a great compliment to the band that Kris did not change the style of the song, Kris does give it his own sound. Look at the publicity for The Script, smart move on their part. I absolutely love this song.

This song is a complete disaster for his career in every way. By this time next year, Kris Allen will join the likes of Ruben, Fantasia, and Taylor as nothing more than a possible answer in a Trivial Pursuit question; whereas Kelly, Carrie, & to a lesser extent, David Cook all have actual careers. He should just be grateful that he has had the opportunity to experience life outside of Hicksville, USA before moving back there & becoming a choir director or something. Bye, Kris. Nice knowing ya.

I am adam fan but is it adam's fault that this is exactly the same as the original script song? no. i agree with Betty. what a disastrous move. i currently, bored while waiting for adam's new songs, am listening for 1st time to kris' album "brand new shoes" on youtube. Those songs are not that amazing either BUT AT LEAST THEY ARE ORIGINAL! They might as well have picked a Brand New shoes song for the single. OMG, can't wait 'till adam's new songs stun everyone! brace yourselves people, it's gonna be awesome!

Oh Noz! The Glamberts are on the attack again. Why can't they leave Kris Allen alone? Of course they will hate all over what ever Kris sings, and drool all over Glambert. I guess they don't know that street can run both ways.

I love the song, also when did Kris promise to do "pretty much like he did on the show"? Like the other artists who were previous winners on Idol they pretty much have to do what the labels want until they have more control.
