The rapper who is starring as Sam Hanna in the series has written and performed the track for the promo campaign of the 'NCIS' spin-off.
Starring as one of the leads on "NCIS: Los Angeles" is not enough for LL Cool J that he has to write a song for it. The rapper turned movie star has crafted a new song titled "NCIS: No Crew Is Superior", which is inspired by his role as Special Agent Sam Hanna in the series, together with Grammy-winning producer C. "Tricky" Stewart.
"This song is the musical interpretation of what I felt after meeting with NCIS agents, experienced Marines and Navy Seals," said LL in a press release. "It represents the collective energy in the room. I was so inspired I wrote the song on set."
From Tricky's point of view, "It was great to reunite with LL COOL J. His name is stamped on some of the best records that have ever been made in hip hop. Driven by his passion for the project and the strength of the lyrics, he makes my job to create a new track complicated and easy at the same time, because LL always delivers something new and innovative to the genre."
The song is recorded for the rapper's Label Boomdizzle and is available on iTunes. As a theme song to the upcoming show which is debuting September 22, it will be used in on-air promo campaign, and extensive radio and online outreach. The music video, to be released next week, includes recording session footage and clips from "NCIS: Los Angeles".
