"The Vampire Diaries" sucked the biggest number for The CW on Thursday, September 10 with its series premiere. The network has since released a promo that deliberates some media reviews about the show including "Edgier and Darker Than Twilight" by Access Hollywood.
The vampire series which is adapted from L J. Smith's novels attracted the network's largest audience ever for a premiere of new series. According to Nielsen, the number reached up to 4.8 million although it had to compete at the 8 P.M. slot with established show "Big Brother" on CBS which took in 7.6 million.
Interestingly, "Vampire" number defeated the fifth season premiere of its Thursday partner, "Supernatural" (3.4 million). However, the champion of the night was NBC with its NFL season kickoff game that took in more than 17 million viewers.
On related news, reports have just surfaced that several cast of "The Vampire Diaries" were arrested during a photo shoot on a bridge in Georgia last month. Motorists who passed by saw women dangling off the side of the bridge and flashing them. Police charged Nina Dobrev, Sara Canning, Kayla Ewell and Candice Accola of disorderly conduct and released them shortly on bond.

I like both but I can tell the vampire diary's is using little nuances from twilight the movie that everyone fell in love with. I don't think it's bad to give us what we want however I've heard the jabs about twilight on the show that's wrong considering what your using from the movie
Twilight cut off a lot of stuff to, did you mention that iluvrobertpattinson? No? They didn't have Alice a lot! and Jasper looked so like, SCARED crapless then what happened in the book! And they added the author in the movie even. And you dare say how the cast of Vampire Diaries doesn't look like the ones in the book when you should talk about Twilight?
I love Vampire Diaries, but it just annoys me when someone compares Twilight to it, or thinks Vampire Diaries is a copycat. Really, it's not, and the books came out before Twilight ever did. 1991 - 1st book of Vampire Diaries came out. The chemistry in Vampire Diaries is great, and I agree with people, Twilight was monotone, and it didn't really catch my interest right away when I watched the movie. Oh and why I'm not a Twilight person - Damon isn't even in it! LOL Oh yeah, Damon, ahh...love him..But for True Blood, I seriously need to watch those series!
I so agree with iluvrobertpattinson. No offense, i'm still watching the vampire diaries and it DID come out first b4 twilight, but as a matter of factly, they did make Elena look like a marysue when in actuality she kinda was conceited and stuck up, well at first she was. And Stefan didn't fall head over heels for her right at the beginning!
The Vampire Diaries were written 14 YEARS before twilight. Burn.

Bwahaaha I was laughin at how much they made that guy look like Edward. Bella was fugly. At least that girl in vamp diaries was cute n the vamps had fangs and a decent explanation as to y they could be out in sunlight. Truthfully, Im probably not gonna watch the next episode.I just tuned in to see what all the hype was about. I'm more of a Trueblood girl. Sex, violence, hot vamps and weres/shifters is my thing. I love me some Eric and Pam xD
i was really good and i don't know why it has to be one or the other i like both twilight and the vampire diaries and the vampire diaries was a little edgier then twilight so what get over it

and there is chemistry between the main characters. the casting was super and so was the acting. :) overall a great show and i'm really going to enjoy watching it!
vampire diaries is awesome!!!!! the casting was great! i don't care if it's not like the books! gosh i can hardly go on one poll or comment thingy where there isn't people saying that they don't like it. d you twitards really hate vampire diaries so much that you go on their fansites and say that it sux? that's pitiful. damon can kick edward's butt. maybe even stefan. seriously, edward is one weak vamp.

I think the show was great and the casting was awesome. and if you don't like the casting or the show don't watch it. and it is sooooooooooo not copying stupid twilight! the books came out 15 YEARS before twlight. and they are not trying to copy the whole edward bella thing. they just happened to pick actors like that how is stefan's hair like edtard's again? two men can have similar hair. the world doesn't revolve around twilight, you know.
The vampire diaries tv show was way better than the twilight movie. I couldnt stand twilight. Horrible. I couldnt put up with their monotone acting. Worst movie i have ever seen so far.
VERY bad acting, terrible script, ZERO chemistry between main actors. Do not plan to watch it.

O HELL NO!They think there so much better than twilight.I watched The Vampire Diaries and it was sooooooooooo cheasy I almost threw up.First of all in the book Elena had blond hair,blue eyes,stalked Stephan,and was a real bitch.but they tried to make her look like Bella.Second Stephan's supposed to have wavy dark brown hair but no they had to badly copy Edwards hair so people would like him.And Stephan even had on almost the exact shirt Edward had on when Bella sat next to him in biology.
