Thanking fans for their support in the wake of the deejay's death, his family urges them to make charitable donation in lieu of sending flowers.

AceShowbiz - Family of DJ AM has thanked fans of the late star for their support in the wake of his sudden death last week. Taking it to the deejay's MySpace account, the family wrote "We appreciate the kind words and support for Adam over the past few days." The statement continued encouraging fans to make charitable donations to the National MS Society, Southern California Chapter, or to Friendly House in lieu of sending flowers.

DJ AM, who was found dead at his apartment in New York City on August 28 for apparent drug overdose, was laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in West Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 2. Drummer Travis Barker, actor Scott Caan and DJ Jazzy Jeff were among some people seen attending the private service.

A private memorial to remember AM's life and career has been set to be kicked off at 7 P.M. on Thursday, September 3 at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. In the meantime, it is reported that AM had no will at the time of his death, leaving his mother Andrea Gross as his sole special administrator to clear up his financial matters.

Following inconclusive autopsy results, toxicology tests have been conducted and are expected to be completed in the next few weeks to determine the cause of AM's death. While the tests are still undergoing, it is reported that he was found with multiple OxyContin pills in his mouth and stomach, suggesting he may have taken his own life.
