Judd Apatow Discusses 'Anchorman 2'
Movie

When talking about the possibility of a sequel to 'Anchorman', the movie producer offers an interesting idea, saying 'The great thing is, Will [Ferrell] can be any age and play that character'.

AceShowbiz - Nothing has been set in stone just yet for "Anchorman 2", opening many possibilities for the storylines. While "Anchorman" actor Paul Rudd previously suggested that the sequel may be set in outer space, producer Judd Apatow has proposed a different idea for potential plot by teasing on old-aged crew to Empire.

"When we made Anchorman, [director] Adam [McKay] and Will [Ferrell] had a lot of ideas about what the sequel would be - they'd always laugh about where they'd take the characters," Apatow recalled. "The great thing is, Will can be any age and play that character. Those anchormen sometimes have their jobs until they're 75 years old. So we would always laugh that this movie could work if everybody's really elderly."

As for whether the sequel will be happening soon, the director of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" revealed that both McKay and Ferrell are still working on another project, "The Other Guys". "They're making a movie now, Will and Adam," he said. "But I guess it's a little bit more a possibility than it was a year ago, when it wasn't being discussed at all."

Released in 2004, the original "Anchorman" comes from writer/actor Will Ferrell and director/writer Adam McKay. Supported by Christina Applegate and Steve Carell, it highlights on the popular 1970s culture in Action News television-program format and tells the story of a rivalry between different gender newscasters when a female reporter is trying to be the first "Anchorwoman".
