Universal Pictures has once again postponed the release of the Benicio Del Toro-starring horror thriller, pushing it back from its November 6, 2009 schedule to February 12, 2010.

AceShowbiz - Universal Pictures has come out with the announcement of the release dates for their upcoming slate, and "The Wolfman" apparently has been kicked out of the studio's 2009 line-up to a new schedule in 2010. The Joe Johnston-directed film is now expected to open wide in U.S. theaters on February 12, 2010.

The pushing back of release date isn't something new for this horror thriller project. Originally set to come out on February 13, 2009, the movie starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, and Emily Blunt had experienced several date changes before previously resting on the November 6, 2009 slot. With the new date, it will be screened in theaters at the same time with Robert Pattinson's drama "Remember Me".

Entertainment Weekly claimed that a marketing decision to take advantage of a three-day holiday weekend is the reason offered by producer Scott Stuber for the release date, instead of a possible creative problems in the production. There are words that the date change is done because the studio wants to give space between the supernatural movie and "The Twilight Saga's New Moon".

Inspired by 1941 horror film from producer/director George Waggner, "The Wolfman" is set in the late 1880s and follows Lawrence Talbot, a haunted-by-his-past nobleman who is forced to go back to his family estate and meet his estranged father after his brother vanishes. Seeking to find his brother and his murderer, he soon finds out a horrifying secret cursed upon him. The trailer for this horror movie is said to be played in theaters before screenings of Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" in two weeks.
