R 'n' B singer Mary J. Blige is the latest Hollywood celebrity who is featured in the new AT&T commercial. The TV spot which is titled "Shedding Styles" highlights "the style and functionality" of the provider's quick messaging phones, which have full keyboards to make texting easier and faster.
In the ad, Blige is seen making swift wardrobe changes, hairstyle, and make-up, during when AT&T's phones; Motorola Karma, LG Neon and LG Xenon, are shown in a close-up. Her fashion change ranges from rock 'n' roll to elegant, as each of the outfits represents different types of the phones.
Blige's newly released single "The One" off her latest studio album "Stronger" is played as the background of the commercial. At the end of the ad, a tagline that read "a phone for every style" is featured.
Daryl Evans, VP of advertising and marketing communications at AT&T Mobility explains that Blige is recruited to star in the TV spot because the singer is considered to have "a strong sense of self and a strong sense of style." He adds that Blige's sense of style and self puts her "in total alignment" with the devices she endorses.
Blige herself opens up in a behind-the-scene interview, she feels blessed to be featured in the latest AT&T commercial. She, moreover, also describes her album "Stronger" which will be released on November 24. On the same occasion, she offers advice for people on how to have self confidence and find out their own personal style.
