In addition to admitting that he eagerly awaits Jacob and Bella's first kiss, the 17-year-old spills the bean on the transformation his character undergoes from 'Twilight' to 'New Moon'.
Though nearly missing out the chance to reprise his role in "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" due to his "young-looking" appearance, Taylor Lautner will be seen as Jacob Black in the "Twilight" sequel and he recently shared a thing or two about his part. In a chat with Rotten Tomatoes during a set visit, the 17-year-old talked about the transformation he and his character are facing.
While many are still admiring his physical changes for "New Moon", Lautner pointed out that Jacob's transformation doesn't show only on the character's stronger, bigger physical appearance, but also on his presence. "The biggest thing with Jacob's physicality is, pre-transformation he's described as clumsy," he said. "He trips over his own feet; he's a little kid. Then, as soon as he transforms, he all of a sudden becomes very agile. So...all of my movements together, even as simple as walking, had to have more of a presence."
On him sporting a new hair-do in the sequel, the 17-year-old, who admitted that he too is looking forward for the scene of Jacob and Bella's first kiss, opened up the fact that he wore a wig for the first film. "The long hair is definitely a wig," he stated. "I just wrapped the wig a couple of days ago; that was amazing. The whole crew gave applause. I was so happy. They're like, 'So, do you want to keep it?' I said, 'If you give it to me, I will probably burn it.' "
When asked about how much of "New Moon" he spends shirtless, Lautner made sure that he doesn't spill too much. "I'd say the same as the books," so he claimed. "I'm not going to give you a specific percent, but the great things about this series and the movies is, we stay true to the books. So if you read the books, you know what the movie's going to look like." In addition, he revealed that he had his body scanned for CGI purposes.
During the interview, the Elliot Murtaugh of "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" also spoke about what power he would love to take for Jacob in addition to his power to transform into a wolf. "I want to steal one of Edward's powers," he said. "But then I'd feel like I'm betraying Jacob if I said that...well, I'd like to read Bella's [mind]."
On another "New Moon" update, a new promo picture of Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black has been put out via RyanSeacrest.com. The new picture sees the actor shirtless with a tribal tattoo on his upper right arm.
"The Twilight Saga's New Moon" is based on the second book by Stephenie Meyer and will hit the U.S. theaters on November 20. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart reprise their roles as unlikely lovers Edward and Bella. Exclusive footage of this sequel will be presented by Summit Entertainment at San Diego Comic Con 2009.
