The new show on Lifetime cast Paula Abdul as the judge who will encourage Jane in continuing her pursuit.
Art imitates life, Paula Abdul is to play a judge on a new Lifetime original series "Drop Dead Diva". Abdul, who is serving as one of "American Idol" judges, will start filming her part next week and have her episode aired in September.
"I am very excited to guest star on Drop Dead Diva," Abdul stated. "All of the people are extremely talented and it's a charming, wonderfully written new show."
Her character Judge Nina Hodge is handling the case by sassy lawyer Jane Bingum aka the main character in the series. Jane is tackling a case about a store which refuses to carry plus size clothing, and true to Abdul's nature, Nina will inspire Jane to continue in her legal pursuit. Lifetime told Access Hollywood that Abdul will be wearing bedazzled and belted judicial robe as Nina.
Premiering July 12 at 9/8c, "Drop Dead Diva" has nabbed an impressive line of guest stars including Rosie O'Donnell, Margaret Cho, Liza Minnelli, Nia Vardalos, Tim Gunn, Delta Burke and Kathy Najimi. It basically tells the story of a former shallow and skinny model who dies and reincarnates in the body of a smart plus size attorney.
