Obama Sends Condolences to Michael Jackson's Family and Fans

Barack Obama's "condolences went out to the Jackson family and to fans that mourn his loss," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has told reporters during a press conference.

AceShowbiz - President Barack Obama hasn't made direct comment just yet regarding Michael Jackson's death, but according to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, Mr. President does send his condolences to the Jacksons family and the late singer's fans. At a press conference on Friday, June 26, Gibbs told reporters Obama's "condolences went out to the Jackson family and to fans that mourn his loss."

Gibbs also said, "I talked to [the president] about it this morning. He said to me that obviously Michael Jackson was a spectacular performer and a music icon. I think everybody remembers hearing his songs, watching him moonwalk on television during Motown's 25th anniversary." He then added, "But the president also said [Jackson] had aspects of his life that were sad and tragic."

Michael Jackson passed away on Thursday, June 25 due to what was cited as cardiac arrest, but the exact cause of his death will be officially confirmed after autopsy performed on his body is completed. In the wake of his death, brother Jermaine Jackson has confirmed to the press that the King of Pop was pronounced dead at 2:26 P.M. Thursday. Though so, the family hasn't shared with the press on plans of funeral service.

Numerous Hollywood celebs have taken it to their Twitter page and official websites to express their loss. Meanwhile, a number of music stars opt to host a tribute for Michael. Music mogul P. Diddy, hip-hop performer Chris Brown, and Boyz II Men are among those teaming up to record a track as a tribute to the late singer. Rapper Q-Tip, on the other hand, prefers to host a tribute night in New York City by inviting fans to attend the event which is set to be held at the city's Santos Party House on Friday night, June 26.
