Fifth season of the dancing competition is rounding up the Top 16 with the departures of Max Kapitannikov and Ashley Valerio.

AceShowbiz - Two more dancers take the fall on "So You Think You Can Dance" when the judges dropped the axe on Thursday, June 18. Latin ballroom dancer Max Kapitannikov and contemporary dancer Ashley Valerio, two contestants who did not start as a couple, must go home to leave 16 in competition.

Max partnered with Jazz/contemporary dancer Kayla Radomski on Wednesday performance night, doing a pop-jazz routine which was choreographed by Brian Friedman. Meanwhile, Ashley did a Hip-Hop style choreographed by Shane Sparks with her contemporary dancer partner, Kupono Aweau.

Another couple in the bottom three was Caitlin and Jason. But both impressed the judges individually on the solo routine and were declared safe. Nigel Lythgoe said the judges were not unanimous like last week in deciding who should go home. Nigel thought Ashley's solo was lacking on "substance" although she was looking hot. For Max, Nigel said the dancer had a good work ethic but he was restricted to his ballroom dance style.

Since Max and Ashley are goners, Kayla and Kupono will be a pair next week.
