'Wanted 2' Geared Up for Production, Angelina Jolie to Return

Director Timur Bekmambetov reveals that he has started preparations for 'Wanted' sequel and plans to bring back to life Angelina Jolie's character.

AceShowbiz - Director Timur Bekmambetov has shared details about his future plan with "Wanted 2", including on the sequel's preparation as well as the possibility of Angelina Jolie to return. To Russian newsite RIA Novosti, the man behind "Wanted (2008)" uncovered when he plans to kick off the sequel, saying "In July we will start preparation for the film."

The 47-year-old helmer furthermore elaborated on when the principal photography should be starting. "I think in the late autumn or winter shooting will be performed," he said. "The shooting will take place in America, India and Russia." Bekmambetov, in addition, promised to bring back to life Angelina Jolie's character, Fox who ends up dead in the first movie.

While mentioning that new characters will be introduced in the follow-up movie which reported budget is around $150 million, the filmmaker also suggested that Konstantin Khabenskiy's The Exterminator may also take part in the sequel. "As for the character played by Kostya Khabenskiy, we'll think about it. We might possibly resurrect him as well," he was quoted as saying.

"Wanted 2" has director Timur Bekmambetov attached to direct this "Wanted (2008)" sequel. Marc E. Platt and Jim Lemley will serve as producers, while Universal Pictures production executive Jeff Kirschenbaum is to oversee the project. It is still unclear if James McAvoy will return to reprise his role as Wesley Gibson, but words are, the producers are trying to get him back.

The original "Wanted" movie follows the story of Wesley Gibson, a young man whose lousy life is changed into thrilling and deathly adventures after he is recruited by a secret assassins society, the Fraternity. Since its release in June 2008, it has raked in as much as $341.8 million worldwide. It has also been nominated for two Academy Awards, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
