Kris Allen's live appearance at NBA Finals has been made available to watch through a just-found video footage. Just before the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic on June 7, the singer delivered an acapella version of U.S. national anthem and finished it off by hitting high and powerful notes.
During his "Star Spangled Banner" performance at Los Angeles' Staples Center, Kris who is the winner of "American Idol" season eight was accompanied by the basketball players from both the Lakers and Magics. Both of the team wore their jersey outfits, the Lakers in white and the Magics in blue, while Kris appeared with all-black clothes.
This is not the first time the NBA recruit Idol alum as a musical guest at their event. Since 2004, Kelly Clarkson, David Cook, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks and Jordin Sparks have all sung at the game.

sorry i agree with leigh. He is a nice guy i think. His vocals are weak at best. He has no particular look or sound. Nothing to set him apart. Like oh! thats kris allen.It was a bit embarassing.I think he needs some work on his look and his vocals. just needs to polish up some.
to katy57.. a singer has to pronouce the word to hold out the note.For Gods sake.The song was too much for him.Didn't people know what was going to be expected of the winner? This is the embarassment that happens when cheats get what they ask for.

cook was bad last year. sorry but kris didn't do a lot better. He is just so green. He looks and sounds out of his comfort zone all the time. Like a kid in a time warp.

I think singing the national anthem in a swanky, funky way like the style of rock singers would have given me the fright -- people outside America would start thinking that the land of the brave is going down to the grave with a disrespectful way of singing.

Several singers had sang the national anthem in an open space with no musical accompaniment. Kris made the song proud for all americans.
To sing in acapella, with no musical instrument acoompaniment is a test of a real singer. He's got it.
What a moving performance, it gave me chills and really made me listen to the words and think about the meaning behind them. He has such a special talent for that.
Weak performance, his voice is so average. A pub singer at best.
