Before the Sunday, May 31, ceremony takes place at Gibson Amphitheatre, the winner of the Best Villain category was announced in a special MTV Movie Awards pre-show announcement.

AceShowbiz - Collecting many nominations and awards for his portrayal of Joker in "The Dark Knight", Heath Ledger once again nabbed another posthumous honor and this time it came from MTV Movie Awards. The late actor was named Best Villain in a special MTV Movie Awards pre-show announcement.

The honor was announced by MTV News correspondent Sway on the red carpet during an episode of the reality series "The Hills". For this golden popcorn statuette, the Academy Award-winning actor beat out Derek Mears of "Friday the 13th", The Rock of "Get Smart", Johnathon Schaech of "Prom Night" and Luke Goss of "Hellboy II: The Golden Army".

The 2009 MTV Movie Awards itself will be aired live by MTV from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California at 9 P.M. ET on Sunday, May 31. "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg will serve as the host with musical performances from Kings of Leon and Eminem. "Twilight" and "Slumdog Millionaire" are vying for Best Movie among other nominations.
