Opening wide across the U.S. on Thursday, May 21,"" was off to a solid start. The fourth installment of the "Terminator" series has dominated the Thursday's domestic sales, pulling in $13.4 million from 3,480 sites. The opening bow included the estimated $3 million from midnight showings.

"Terminator" opening tally is a bit more than half what "" opened to on the exact same day last year. If this McG-directed movie follows the same path as the fourth "Indiana Jones" movie, which went on to collect $152 million by the end of the five-day weekend, it is likely to garner around $70 million over the Memorial Day weekend regardless of strong competition from "".
