Ellen DeGeneres was one of the early birds to strike a deal for an interview with "American Idol" runner-up, Adam Lambert. Just two days after he lost to Kris Allen, Adam called in to "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to talk about how he feels being in the second position despite the fact that many had predicted him to win.
"We all love you here," Ellen opened the conversation in the middle of the roar from in-studio audience. Adam responded, "I love you guys." Then Ellen did most of the talking, saying "I have to say, first of all, I think Kris is fantastic, and I know you feel the same." Adam said, "I'm a huge fan."
Ellen went on praising how Adam reacted when Ryan Seacrest announced that winner was not him. "The way people were talking and the way you reacted when his name was called, it was like you were his dad," she said. "You were so genuinely happy for him they way you kind of grabbed his shoulders and hugged him, and I thought you were so gracious. I just want to say I loved how you handled that."
"Thank you. I was really mentally prepared to have whatever happen, happen," Lambert said in return, adding that Kris was probably more shocked than he was that he had to "shake" the winner a little bit. In a prior interview, Kris said that Adam reminded him that as a winner he had to sing the coronation song, "No Boundaries".
As the spokesperson of CoverGirl, Ellen slipped in a little bit of product endorsement. She said, "If you're going to continue to wear makeup, may I suggest CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation." Adam laughed at the joke and then Ellen added, "There is one thing that I have a problem with. You're going to be responsible for, next year, so many men showing up wearing nail polish and eyeliner thinking that that's all it takes. I predict we're going to see so many men wearing makeup next year thinking, 'Well, they like it. People want to see men doing that.'"
Towards the end of the conversation, Ellen wished him luck and Adam said that he was wearing the underwear that Ellen gave him on the blue carpet.

Adam has such great talent that its ok forhim to have lost the AI title, he doesnt need it. Why do I think that? its simple really Adam brought the talent back to a music industry sorely lacking it. THANK YOU ADAM!!!!!!
Here's what i dont get and even Adam thanked everyone for accepting someone who was alittle "weird", really whats so weird about Adam? Is this the first anyone has seen of a rockstar before? Maybe on the the AI stage but in reality? ...and make up? Rock stars/dudes have been wearing make up since the 80's, theres nothing weird about that that! I felt that both Adam and Kris are awesome talent, Kris nails it in his genre...shit when he sang with keith urban it was beautiful! Adam nails in every genre, but i feel adam is better off with out the AI title! Kris can have the title and the contracts and make bubblegum music...while Adam produces amazing music for us, and Adam if you read this stuff...i really hope that you and allison duet together..your voices are amazing together!!! Cant wait for an album!!!!

We voted for because we want to hear more of you and your music. You are so talented. You didn't need special effects just to make make us listen, your voice and music was enough. First time write comment on AI because of Adam! I am a huge huge fan! We can't vote from Canada. :( AI needs to introduce a new voting system that is fair to the contestants. I wouldn't say Kris doesn't deserve the title. But Adam deserves it more. Kris might have better career being a song writer. He has sweet voice but very narrow range! Can't wait for Adam's first album.

Adam brought AI to a new level - every week he gave us a show - he always looked amazing - like he really cared that he was on tv to do a show!!! unlike other contestants who looked like they just showed up in whatever! Every week people tuned in to see 'what ADAM would do next!' - I am done watching AI - I will spend my time to listening to Adam's recordings - hurry with your first CD - can't wait to see you in concert!
It makes me sick that Adam has to play second fiddle to Kris. He is such a class act! I hope he really does well in the future. I guess America wasn't ready for someone different like him. I kind of think he feels rejected by America yet there are so many of us that just LOVE him!
I feel so sorry that Adam didn't get what is due to him. But God knows how to repay people who remain humble and forgiving despite the injustices and unfairness they receive from unlawful and bias individuals. Lots of bitterness here! Again if he is such a no talent, why did they let him on the show? Kris is a down to earth kind of person, doesn't need the fluff. All kris needs is his Guitar and his TALENT. Adam is also VERY talented and he will have an awesome carrear (sp)
If Kris was really a no talent, like a lot of people want to claim, He would not have been on the show to begin with. Adam is a wonderful young man with lots of talent and I wish him all the success in the world. Kris is a remarkable talent and I said he would go all the way form the begining! Ellen is so right. Adam is gonna have such a huge career it's not even funny. This guy is gonna skyrocket straight to the top. And I love how different he is. He reminds me of Prince a little bit. GO ADAM!!!
Hey Megan, The judges "leached" on Adam because he was phenominal. Were we watching the same weekly show here??? Not only did Adam change up each and every song but he also had the stage presence that warranted a magazine cover not to mention his picture and an article in just about every magazine I picked up since the season started....and this all before the finale. Now what other idol received celebrity endorsements, magazine covers, and standing ovations as a contestant. You can't because there has never been one. Just imagine if Adam had not been a contestant this season. Thank you Adam for making this the best season ever. There will never be another one like it...or another you!

Cowell's face said it all - America rejected superior in favor of safe, middle-of-the-road Allen. Laughable. Who's gonna watch AI from now on except the church-goer coalition? Wouldn't be surprised if Cowell said the hell with it after this travesty.
Yeah right kayb...like you really know what the final number of votes were. If Ryan Seacrest says he doesn't know the number, then you don't either. Kris won because of the teeny bopper votes he got from Danny. No one is crying over anything as Adam displayed most graciously at the finale. People just get upset when overall talent does not win out.
Eveyone sounds like cry babies!!!!! Kris is very talented and Adam will do fine. If you Adam fans would have voted instead of assuming that he was going to win, then maybe things would have changed although I doubt it by the number that have I seen. Quit bashing Kris because America voted and Kris is the new American Idol. The finale was a great show - in my opinion the best very.
look people, kris is very talented. People are critiquing him because they love adam so much. Kris was original when it can to song arrangement and that is half the battle. No kris isn't as good of a singer as adam, and kris said that from the beginning. Just because you don't like him doesn't make him bad. Also if one of the judges had leached on Kris like they all did to Adam this you may have been singing a different tune. Oh and Megan by the way it's t-shirt not tea shirt DA!
Kris does not deserve the title as our American Idol. He has no talent. What was America thinking? Adam is a beautiful and talented person. I need someone to restore my faith in a great show that I have watched for 8 seasons. I bought Idol tickets to see Adam and Danny. Now I'm going to fall asleep when they anounce number one.
