'New Moon' Star Alex Meraz Talks About Haters and Becoming Sex Symbol

Joining the cast ensemble of the highly anticipated "The Twilight Saga's New Moon," Alex Meraz says he has met some haters despite the fact that the movie is still months away into its U.S. release. "Someone started yelling at me because they didn't like my character," he told E! News at a Carrera Vintage Sunglasses party at the Chateau Marmont hotel on Thursday, May 7.

"I play a bad boy, so she got mad at me," the 24-year-old actor explained about his character as a werewolf named Paul. "She said, 'I hate you, Paul!' That was the craziest thing for me - being confused for a character." He added, "I yelled back at her, 'I love you, too!'"

Alex, furthermore, stated that notwithstanding his fresh start in Hollywood film industry he isn't "worried about being a sex symbol." Comparing himself to co-star Robert Pattinson, who has been considered as a hunk as well as ladies' man, he gushed, "Rob's just kind of soaking it up for everyone. I'm happy to have just a smidgen of what he's got."

During the same occasion, Alex also hinted that he might already be signed on to reprise his role in the third "Twilight" flick, "Eclipse." "The next movie we're doing is Eclipse, so I'll wait to read the book a couple weeks before we start doing it, so I can really focus on it," he revealed. "I don't want to spread myself too thin."
