An interesting tidbit concerning "Robin Hood" script and its potential rewriting work has been brought to the attention by Showbiz 411. Through the newly launched site, former Fox journalist Roger Friedman claimed that another rewriting has been done for the script of the Ridley Scott-directed action drama.
On the yet-to-be-proven story, Friedman made note that "Shakespeare in Love" screenwriter Tom Stoppard has been hired to tackle the job. "I'm told that Tom Stoppard, the genius playwright (Rock N Roll, Coast of Utopia, etc) and actual screenwriter of 'Shakespeare in Love' among other films, has been reworking Ridley Scott's 'Robin Hood' from top to bottom," so his report read.
Prior to this latest rewriting news, a number of drafts has been made for "Robin Hood". The first one was penned by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris when the project was known as "Nottingham", and the last one was conceived as a straight-up Robin Hood and Merry Men story by Academy Award-winning scribbler, Brian Helgeland.
"Robin Hood" is the working title given for the action adventure film which was once named "Nottingham". It stars Russell Crowe as the titular character, Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian and Mark Strong as Sir Godfrey. Other actors, including Vanessa Redgrave and Kevin Durand, are also among the listed cast ensemble. Universal Pictures will distribute this movie in theaters across the U.S. on May 14, 2010.

Roger Friedman is not a reliable source. He hears rumors, or makes them up, then reports them as if proven. He's often wrong and uses poor judgement, which is why he was recently fired by Fox and has begun his own blog, where he posted this "information" without attribution.
