TV

Scoring the highest points from the judges of 'Dancing with the Stars', Melissa Rycroft showed that she can be wild with Argentine tango.

AceShowbiz - Seven remain on the dance floor of "Dancing with the Stars" and in the seventh week, couples will be performing a type of dance that they didn't pick in the past six weeks. Also, starting this week, the couples will preserve the tradition of having a group dance before the show wraps up. Additionally, the costumes of the professional dancers are designed by the celebrities.

First up were Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani doing Argentine tango. To get the idea of "maneater", Melissa was brought to the set of "Desperate Housewives" where she was given a tour by Teri Hatcher. After the performance, Len said that it was a fantastic piece and beautifully executed. Bruno said it was a revenge of the maneater while Carrie complimented the lifts and called it the best Argentine tango ever performed on the show. The score was 10-9-10, giving it 29 out of 30.

The second couple was Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska doing Waltz. Bruno said that the beginning was smooth but there were some mistakes made later on. Carrie said Lawrence looked more free in his movement and that showed him enjoying the dance. Len said that he was surprised at how well Lawrence performed. The score was 7-7-7, giving it 21 out of 30.

Doing the Rumba were Lil' Kim and Derek Hough. They were trying to tone down the "sexiness" of Kim during the rehearsal. Carrie however, said it was disappointing because it was an "understated and underwhelming" rumba. No passion. Len agreed with this, advising them to do what they do best and not to please just one person. Bruno said it was like margarita without tequila. The score was 9-8-9, giving it 26 out of 30.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough picked the Samba and Chuck did a self-promotion through his country concert. The performance was indeed lauded by the judges. Len said it was his best dance so far and he liked it a lot. Bruno loved the hip work and noticed that Chuck must have wanted it so badly. Carrie meanwhile, stood up and cheered for them. The score was 9-9-9, giving it 27 out of 30.

Ty Murray and Chelsie Hightower did the waltz. During the rehearsal, Ty's wife Jewel Kilcher laughed at his attempt to be romantic but gave him her support. Bruno said that it was a great comeback from Ty while Carrie made the expression that Ty was a great frame for his partner to dance. Lance simply said that the dance was well done. The score was 8-8-8, giving it 24 out of 30.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas performed the cha cha cha. The gymnast had to travel far to accept an award, causing her to lose time to practice and pretty much worn out. The judges, on the other hand, loved the performance. Carrie said that everything was perfect including the technique and the life she put in the dance. Len said it was done like how it should be done. Bruno compared her to Debbie Reynolds, young and flamboyant. The score was 9-9-10, giving it 28 out of 30.

Last to perform, Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke picked Viennese waltz. Cheryl took him for a swimming lesson to make him lose the latin persona. Len loved that it had the romance quality and also the choreography. Carrie called him the most elegant dancer they had met in the competition. Bruno said it was generally good and glamorous. The score was 9-9-9, giving it 27 out of 30.

The group performance was in 1960s theme with choreography by Christian Perry. The judges won't score the performance but the audience are free to weigh in their votes. Len commented that the guys produced sublime silliness while Carrie said the girls nailed it.
