Dave Matthews Band give 'Funny the Way It Is', the first single off upcoming album 'Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King', for free beginning April 14 until a week ahead.

AceShowbiz - Dave Matthews Band are giving away their new song. Starting on April 14, when they kick off their summer tour, until a week ahead, they give fans a chance to download for free "Funny the Way It Is", the first single off their upcoming album "Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King".

"It's a pretty song and it talks about a lot of things," vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews says of the new single. "[It's about] death and love and all those things ... but it also talks about the world of opposites that we are in."

"That's the idea behind the song - that we will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to save a kid's life," the singer continues. "And then we will drop bombs out of the sky on each other and blow a whole school of them to pieces without a thought. And that's a funny world. ... That's why it's called 'Funny the Way It Is'."

"Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King" itself will be dropped in U.S. on June 2. Produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Goo Goo Dolls), it will be the band's seventh studio album following their 2005 effort "Stand Up", which peaked at number 1 on Billboard Hot 200, and the band's first record since the death of saxophonist LeRoi Moore last summer.

The new album has been available for pre-order on their official website, where fans can also obtain the new song for free. Fans who pre-order the CD will receive the group's upcoming live album "Live Trax 15", which contains their August 9, 2008 show at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, WI, as a bonus.

While waiting for the album's release, music lovers can peek into what can be expected from the album through newly-posted video footage, which carries the album's trailer. In the footage, Dave Matthews and the band's other members, Boyd Tinsley, Stefan Lessard and Carter Beauford, perform several songs and talk about recording and the death of LeRoi Moore.

Dave Matthews Band currently are hitting the road for a national roadshow. The next day after April 14 live gig at Madison Square Garden in New York, they will head up to East Rutherford, New Jersey for another live concert. They will continue touring through October 2. Fans can visit their MySpace for more info about their upcoming shows.
