A family friend of Natasha Richardson says that the decision made by her family to donate her organs "is very Natasha".

AceShowbiz - People magazine has reported in its newest issue which goes on sale on Friday, March 27 that Natasha Richardson's organs have been donated to patients needing vital transplants at the request of her family. The decision to donate the late actress' organs was made by her family after she was taken off life support at Manhattan's Lenox Hill Hospital.

Speaking of the good deed, a family friend tells People the organs donation "is very Natasha." "She spent so much time fighting the stigma of AIDS; someone like that would naturally donate her organs. At least by donating her organs something good could come out of [the tragedy]," the family friend explains.

Aside from the organs donation, another family friend identified as Blaine Trump informs the weekly publication that Natasha's actor husband Liam Neeson "is doing okay" following her tragic death last week. Blaine continues, "It takes a while to absorb this. But he says the family needs to move forward. They will take it one step at a time," adding that "With good friends by their side, they will get through the tough days ahead."

Natasha Richardson, a stage and film actress, passed away on March 18 of blunt trauma to the brain after a skiing accident in Montreal. She was buried at St. Peter's Cemetery in Millbrook, N.Y. on March 22. She and husband Liam have two sons; Micheal Richard Antonio and Daniel Jack.
