Peter Segal, the director of 'Get Smart', will meet 'Little Fockers' producers this week to figure out a deal and work on his schedule.

AceShowbiz - "Little Fockers" could have "Get Smart" helmer Peter Segal behind its lens. In a recent report related to the sequel to "Meet the Fockers", it is said that Segal is the front runner for the position and that Universal Pictures are close to lock down the filmmaker to direct the third installment of the "Meet the Parents" trilogy.

Known for his work in such comedy movies as "The Longest Yard" and "50 First Dates", Segal will have a meeting with the film's principal players this week, as reported by Variety. Though expected to work on "Get Smart 2", he became available for the directing part after "Get Smart" star Steve Carell signed on to star in "Date Night".

On another "Little Fockers" news, screenwriter John Hamburg has described the movie as "the next chapter" in an interview with Entertainment Weekly during "I Love You, Man" Los Angeles premiere on March 17. Teasing the plot, he further said, "Everyone will be back. I can guarantee there will be more children and that conflict will ensue between [Robert] De Niro and [Ben] Stiller."

"Little Fockers" will revolve around the children of Greg Focker and Pam Byrnes. Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Owen Wilson are reportedly in talks to star in the comedy movie with De Niro and Jane Rosenthal serving as producers. Production is expected to start in summer.
