While Latino Review suggests 'Star Trek' actor Chris Pine has been offered to play the titular role in 'Green Lantern', Collider claims that the story is a false one.

AceShowbiz - Conflicting reports on Chris Pine's possible casting for "Green Lantern" have come out. Soon after Latino Review took IESB report about Pine in Warner Bros. short list to the next level, suggesting him to have been given a special offer for the Hal Jordan part, Collider blasted the report, calling it "just NOT true".

Previously, Latino Review broke out that its sources have stated, "The official offer is out Chris Pine for the role," in support of IESB's report that the star of upcoming "Star Trek" is on top of the studio's list for the role. At the time, the site noted that Pine hasn't either accepted or declined the role. Contradicting the news, Collider pointed out that its source, who claims the report was a false one, is "the same one that said Anton Yelchin wasn't in the running either".

Despite this conflicting speculations on Chris Pine casting rumor, neither Pine nor Warner Bros. has come out with a response. Still, it has been reported earlier that the shooting of this superhero movie will start in mid-September in Australia and "Casino Royale" helmer Martin Campbell has been appointed as the director.

"Green Lantern" will tell the story of Hal Jordan, an ordinary test pilot who is suddenly given the task by dying alien named Abin Sur to protect the space using a green energy-powered ring. The movie scripted by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green is set to be released in the U.S. on December 17, 2010.
