Carlos Santana, Daddy Yankee to Be Honored at 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards

Carlos Santana and Daddy Yankee will be handed special awards alongside Raul Alarcon, Sr. at this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards.

AceShowbiz - Mexican rock musician/guitarist Carlos Santana and Puerto Rican reggaeton recording artist Daddy Yankee are among those to be honored at this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards. The two musicians are confirmed to be handed with special discretionary awards by Billboard.

Carlos, who is the founder of band Santana, will be given Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions in expanding the reach of Latin music worldwide. And, Daddy will receive Spirit of Hope Award for his humanitarian work of rehabilitating youthful offenders and providing basic services to underprivileged youth through his Corazon Guerrero Foundation.

Another person in Latin music industry who is considered to have made extraordinary contributions to Latin music is Raul Alarcon, Sr., the founder of Spanish Broadcasting System. The industry maverick will be handed Hall of Fame Award for having been a pivotal figure in the development of Latin radio in United States.

2009 Billboard Latin Music Conference will be held on April 20 - 23 at the Eden Roc Resort in Miami Beach. Enrique Iglesias and Juanes are some of the singers nominated for the awards honoring the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music.
