Striking while the iron is hot, ABC have announced that they put up "The Bachelor" castaway Jillian Harris as their next "The Bachelorette". The network officially signs the 29-year-old interior designer to find her own path of love in the show's fifth season after sent home by Jason Mesnick in "The Bachelor".
During the second part of "The Bachelor: After the Final Rose", host Chris Harrison announced, "It was really a pretty easy decision for us to make. There was one girl on (The Bachelor) this season that really captured America's heart and the groundswell of support for her to be the next Bachelorette was overwhelming. Ladies and gentlemen, help me welcome our new Bachelorette, Jillian!"
The reality show has not been taped, but the show is aimed for a May 18 premiere. Jillian was in the Top 3 of Mesnick's choice before he lets her go for Molly and Melissa. Previously Harrison also said that they were also considering to make Molly a Bachelorette since Melissa was picked by Jason in the finale. However, the twist of ending where Jason has a change of heart and picks Molly instead, makes this impossible.
Jillian herself admits to be excited joining the show, saying "Although I know there are no guarantees, it is a great, great opportunity to me to meet 25 guys that are a good match for me and I fell in love once before and know that this is a great venue for me to fall in love again."

I was so disgusted by ABC allowing Jason to do what he did. I used to look forward to watching The Bachelor but will never watch it again....
I really was shocked when Jason let Jillian go. She had more maturity and charisma than the two M's...I guess that was not what he wanted. Can't wait to see the new season with this well rounded beautiful Canadian! Jilly, you deserve the best!
I hate Jason and Molly they are both scum. I know that idiot was talking to Molly behind poor Melissa's back.
I don't know why I ever watch this show because it's only actually been successful ONCE. This time though I am super turned off by the whole thing. What an a*&hole Jason is to do that to Melissa. Molly & him deserve each other - they're both idiots. Jillian was awesome though so I'll give the show one more chance to redeem itself.
i hate jason too. why would he do that to melissa? if was gonna go with molly then he should have proposed to her in the first place and saved melissa the heartbreak!!!but melissa deserves better anyway so its ok.jason is a jerk!
la he never thoughtr it would go that way with Mellisa. Melissa is imature and young. and molly is at the right age and mature so i am actulally bumed that he would do that to mellisa but then again Molly and him look better.
I really liked Jillian & her hot dog idea so much I thought about getting 2 "Weiner Dogs" and naming the girl Jillian & boy Jason. No on second thought how about about DICK!
I'm so totally stoked that jillian is going to be the next bachelorette. For christs sake, melissa use to be a dallas cowboys cheerleader, it's not like she can't find someone. lol. She probably still has stalkers from working as a cheerleader lol.

i really love jillian.. but still im so sad what happened to melissa.. i think melissa deserves to be the next bachelorette so that jason will realize that melissa is still the best
