Updating earlier Internet reports claiming Usher's wife Tameka Foster has experienced complications from plastic surgery which she had in Brazil, a representative for the singer said Monday, February 9, "Tameka Raymond is in stable condition after suffering complications from routine surgery." The representative went on stating, "Her husband Usher is with her at the hospital."
"No further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time," the representative added. Meanwhile, a hospital spokeswoman has confirmed that Tameka was being treated at the posh Sirio-Libanes Hospital in Sao Paulo. The spokeswoman, nevertheless, did not give her name due to hospital rules.
Usher was forced to pull out of a scheduled performance at Clive Davis' annual star-studded pre-Grammys party on Saturday night, February 7, due to what was cited as "serious injury in the family." Later it was revealed that his wife Tameka suffered complications due to plastic surgery. A neurosurgeon, Dr. Gabriel Hunt, of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, has flown to South America and arrived in Brazil on Sunday evening to lend a helping hand.
Usher and Tameka Foster, who used to work as his stylist, have been married since August 2007. They are parents to two sons; Usher Raymond V who was born in November 2007 and Naviyd Ely Raymond who was born in December 2008.
