Screen Gems celebrate the nearing theatrical release of 'Underworld: Rise of the Lycans' by holding a world premiere for the supernatural thriller in Los Angeles.

AceShowbiz - On Thursday, January 22, exactly a day before "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" opens in theaters across the U.S., Screen Gems have given the supernatural thriller a red carpet treatment by holding out a world premiere event. The special screening event took place at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood.

Attending the premiere were some of the movie's major characters, Bill Nighy who plays Viktor, Michael Sheen who stars as Lucian and Rhona Mitra who portrays Sonja. They were joined by cast member Kevin Grevioux, director Patrick Tatopoulos, producer Len Wiseman and Screen Gems topper Clint Culpepper. Celebrity guests, like Garcelle Beauvais, Kip Pardue and Vail Bloom, have also been spotted at the event.

Delving into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and the barbaric Lycans, "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" tells the story when a young Lycan named Lucian rallies the werewolves to rise up against cruel vampire king Viktor. Joined by his secret lover, Sonja, he battles the Death Dealers to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement. Scripted by Danny McBride, the action fantasy movie will make its debut in U.S. theaters this coming Friday, January 23.
