While Taylor Hicks' new album "The Distance" will not arrive until March 10, "What's Right Is Right", the first single off the upcoming effort, has been revealed. Driven by funky keyboards and sax work, the mid-tempo song about love and commitment will be released digitally on January 27.
"The Distance" itself will be produced by Simon Climie, who previously helped Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Faith Hill making their hit singles. Its sounds meanwhile will be worked on by guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, bassist Nathan East and drummer Abe Laboriel Jr.
Eleven tracks* have been set to be included in Taylor's second studio album. Some of the singles are co-written by himself, including "Wedding Day Blues", "Seven Mile Breakdown", "Once Upon a Lover of Mine" and "Woman Gotta Have It", in addition to the newly-unveiled song and the title track.
Since becoming the winner of the fifth season of "American Idol", Taylor Hicks has dropped self-titled debut album, which was certified platinum and peaked at number two on Billboard Hot 200. He has also toured through Asia, performing with Willie Nelson, Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers Band as well as Jackson Browne. At the beginning of 2009, he embarks on a national U.S. tour with Grease. Fans can log on to his MySpace to check his complete tour dates.

I'm not the same person as the other "musiclover", but I love me some Taylor Hicks music. I love that he seems to be able to do all kinds of music, reflecting the versatility of his talents and interest. I know nothing of him personally, but he certainly appears to be a loyal to his old friends and kind to others. He's been classy and positive, and I like that about him.
That post by musiclover has appeared on every article almost every article about Taylor Hicks for about 2 years now. I think its about time to give it a rest. And I wish them "luck" too.
I am definitely enjoying the new single!! Great job, Taylor, can't wait until March 10!!
Well I'm lovin' the single!Yes, it took me a couple of listens to absorb the vibe. Something about Taylor's voice is good for the soul.
i LOVE the titles of his songs! Too awesome! The single is really good. Better than the last album (although I liked that too). Cant' wait for wedding day blues LOL
Taylor is a great musician and vocalist. However, he is an egotistical nitemare. I had a chance to work with him after American Idol and it was obvious that he is more into himself than his music. He gladly accepted our support while competiting on american idol. However, upon winning it's my understanding that Hicks took measures to "distance" himself from many of the individuals who got him to where he is today, including his long-time manager/mentor - Jaan Childs. I work in the music industry and I have made a point to follow his career due to having had an opportunity to work with him. Although, I am greatly disappointed to know that Hicks suffers from an inflated ego, lack of character, loyalty, and in ability to develop a brand presence in the marketplace. It's great he has a new ablum, but I highly doubt that his sales will exceed his debut album release. Enclosing, I am starting to believe the old southern saying "you can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the HICK out of the boy".... I wish him luck
I'm soooo happy. Anything "Taylor" makes me happy.
Love the new single! Can't wait for the whole album.
Amazing! Way to go Taylor! I can not wait to hear the entire album.
