20th Century Fox are set to bring Japanese anime TV series "Cowboy Bebop" to the big screen and in doing so, the production house have hired Keanu Reeves to play the titular character. As being confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, he will be landing the part as Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter and former member of a crime syndicate, in the action movie.
Keanu Reeves has shared his admiration over the TV series, claiming it has gotten a Western quality. Earlier, the actor, who plays Klaatu in "The Day the Earth Stood Still", told MTV, "It's got so much style to it, and that's part of its appeal. That kind of Old West, bordertown, low-tech science fiction aspect."
Set in a time where "astral gates" make interstellar travel possible, "Cowboy Bebop" will follow the adventure of Spike Spiegel and his co-pilot Jet Black as the two travel through space with the spaceship Bebop. Using a script written by Peter Craig, the film eyes for 2011 release.

I agree with you, milesperminute. I like Keanu and Cowboy Bebop but dont like this westernization idea.
I'm not sure about this... but we'll see how it goes. I'm not a Keanu-hater.
