R 'n' B singer-songwriter and actress Jill Scott is pregnant. She shared the good news to reporters at the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles on Friday, January 9, during when she was due to promote her new HBO series "The No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency."
"The first trimester I spent in Botswana," Jill said recalling the time she first discovered her pregnancy just before leaving for the nation where she filmed the TV series. "That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. First trimester! You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days."
Adjusting her pregnancy to her acting career, Jill has confirmed, "My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it." She is due to give birth to the baby on April 25. The infant will be the first child for her and drummer fiance Lil' John Roberts.
Jill Scott was previously married to graphic artist and DJ Lyzel Williams. Exchanging wedding vows in a private ceremony held in 2001, the pair got divorced in 2007.
