Having nailed roles in several drama musical films, R 'n' B superstar Beyonce Knowles has been reported to take another role in a musical feature film. This time, the co -star of Adrien Brody in "Cadillac Records" has been signed by producer Jon Peters to star in the remake of "A Star is Born" as told by Jon's wife, Mindy Peters, to Houston Chronicle.
Up to news date, it is still unclear what character Beyonce is being picked up for or whether she would take the Esther Hoffman role once made famous by Barbra Streisand in the '70s. Furthermore, aside from Mindy's statement on the signing in of the "Single Ladies" singer, there is still no official word released related to this casting report.
"A Star is Born" is a rock musical film that centers its story on a romantic relationship between an up-and-coming songstress and an established rock musician whose star starts to lose its brightness. The movie was made popular in 1976 when Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson took the leading parts and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Evergreen".
UPDATE 12/12: Responding to what Mindy Peters has said about Beyonce Knowles being signed for "A Star is Born", the singer's representative has stated the contrary. Addressing the speculation to Access Hollywood, the rep claimed that the story is "completely false", adding further that "there was no offer".
