'Australia' Comes to New York for Premiere

The 20th Century Fox have rolled down red carpet in front of Ziegfeld Theater in New York for the special screening event of Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman-starring epic drama 'Australia'.

AceShowbiz - A couple of days before opening in U.S. theaters, "Australia" has held a special screening event in New York. Taking place at the Ziegfeld Theater on Monday, November 24, the premiere event saw one extravagant gala attended by many celebrities from the film's stars Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman to musician Moby and model Lydia Hearst.

Joining Jackman and Kidman on the red carpet were director Baz Luhrmann and co-producer Catherine Martin, as well as Kidman's husband, country singer Keith Urban. Aside from them, other celebrity guests, like Kelsey Grammer, Olivia Newton-John, Lauren Bacall, Alicia Witt, Deborra-Lee Furness, Helena Christensen, and many others, have also been spotted attending the special event.

Coming from the man behind "Moulin Rouge!" and "Romeo + Juliet", "Australia" is an epic drama set in the outback during the World War II. It follows the adventures faced by an aristocratic English woman and a rugged cattle drover when they join forces to drive 2,000 cattle across hundreds of miles of the harsh terrain only to meet the bombing of the city of Darwin. The movie which ending has been altered recently is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on November 26.
