35th Annual People's Choice Awards Nominees in TV


'Grey's Anatomy' and its star Patrick Dempsey will battle 'House M.D.' and its star Hugh Laurie in two different categories.

Several Hollywood's celebrities who have made contributions to the TV world as well as both popular and new shows that have continuously attracted audience this year have been chosen as the nominees of the 35th Annual People's Choice Awards. Among the shows that have become a favorite is medical drama "Grey's Anatomy".

Not only does the show is picked as the candidate of Favorite TV Drama along with "House M.D." and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", the show's star Patrick Dempsey who portrays the famous Dr. McDreamy is put under the nomination of Favorite Male TV Star. Interestingly, he will battle it out with Hugh Laurie, the titular character of "House" in that category.

"Two and a Half Men" also got its share of spotlight after revealed as the contender of Favorite TV Comedy and its star Charlie Sheen is nominated for Favorite Male TV Star. Meanwhile, from the female realm, "Samantha Who?" star Christina Applegate will have to fight with Mariska Hargitay ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit") and Sally Field ("Brothers & Sisters")to bring home Favorite Female TV Star. Ellen DeGeneres is also taking a nomination, being put under Favorite Talk Show Host.

New categories in TV are added this year, Favorite TV Drama Diva where Holly Hunter is one of the nominees, and Favorite Scene-Stealing Guest Star where Britney Spears gets a nod.

People's Choice Awards is one of the events that leads to the Oscar next year but unlike the prestigious awards show, the winners of People's Choice will be voted by movie, TV and music fans. Voting line has been opened and can be accessed at Pcavote.com in which it can also be seen other nominees from movie and music. The ceremony to hand out the prizes will be held on January 7 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, broadcast live by CBS at 9/8c and hosted by Queen Latifah.
