British-born actress Minnie Driver has become a mother for the first time when she gave birth to a baby boy Friday, September 5 in Los Angeles. The newborn infant is named Henry Story Driver. He weighed 9 lbs., 12 oz.
Jessica Kolstad, a representative for Driver, confirmed the birth of the baby to People magazine. The representative, however, didn't mention any further details.
Talks on Driver's pregnancy were loud in February 2008. She added fuel to the rumors as she was seen leaving a Los Angeles doctor's office looking at sonograms with a pal. It wasn't until the following month though that she officially confirmed her pregnancy.
During a scheduled interview on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on March 13, she publicly announced that she's pregnant, telling the talk show host she loved "it more than anything else." She refused to identify the baby's daddy though.
Speaking about the questioned man to People back in June, Driver simply said "He's going to be a dad, so, yeah, he's going to be there for the kid" adding "I'm not getting married to this person, and I don't know what's going to happen, but everyone is cool about the situation."
On becoming a mother for the first time, she has previously stated that she's looking forward to simply observing and spending time with her child, planning to bring the baby to hang out at the beach. "I love the ocean and this baby will probably be surfing and swimming before it can walk," so she said.
