Actor David Duchovny Checks Into Rehab for Sex Addiction

He has exclusive confirmed to People that he's in treatment for sex addiction and thus asks for respect and privacy for wife and their children.

Adding to the list of celebrities who check into rehab is David Duchovny. The actor who's best known for his starring role as Fox Mulder in TV series "The X Files", confirmed on Thursday, August 28 that he has entered a facility for none other than treatment of sex addiction.

Exclusively telling People about his rehabilitation, Duchovny issued a statement through his lawyer, Stanton "Larry" Stein, saying "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction." He, furthermore, stated "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

Duchovny, 48, rose to international stardom starring as the conspiracy-minded FBI agent Fox Mulder on Fox network's paranormal thriller "The X-Files." The TV series spawn two big-screen spinoffs, the latest one titled "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" hit the theaters last month. He currently plays a womanizing writer on the cable television series "Californication."

Off screen, Duchovny has been married to actress wife Tea Leoni since May 1997. They are parents to two children; son Kyd Miller Duchovny and daughter Madelaine West Duchovny.

I send love to him and his family. My husband has had a sex addiction problem and we are rebuilidng our relationship with the help of a therapist. We also attended an Intimacy Retreat learning about tantric sex which has helped immensely.
