Katy Perry Ties Beatles Record With 'I Kissed a Girl'

Securing number one at Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart for seven weeks, Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl' ties The Beatles record as the longest-running number one in the American chart.

Katy Perry's second single "I Kissed a Girl" from latest album "" has been in lead spot of Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart for seven weeks. This record has then tied to become the longest-running number one in the chart for her label Capitol Records.

Furthermore, if Katy's song can hang on for three more weeks, it will tie rapper 's "Low", which has previously enjoyed a ten-week run in the hot spot of the chart. However, there may come challenges from R&B singer 's "Forever" which has risen one place from number three to number two, and 's "Disturbia" which is up to number three this week.

Despite its controversy that has attracted a certain amount of criticism and controversy for its lesbian lyrics, "I kissed a girl and I liked it / I hope my boyfriend don't mind it", Katy's single has also topped the Canadian Hot 100 Singles, the Swedish Singles, the Australian ARIA Singles, and the U.K. Singles charts. Such huge success has then made some saying that the single will continue leading various charts as its lyrics have won many of fans' hearts.
