Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas Record New Song for Converse

The rapper along with Julian Casablancas and Santogold have been tapped by the famous shoe company to record a song for their ad campaign.

AceShowbiz - A new exciting collaboration has just been done by N.E.R.D's Pharrell Williams as he has just teamed up with Julian Casablancas of The Strokes and also Santogold to record a new track. The new song is titled "My Drive Thru" and was made to celebrate the famous shoe company Converse 100th anniversary.

The new song will be dropped for free download via the company's official website today, June 10. Not only that the track is also being set to be used for the new TV ad for Converse. Confirming the tapping of Pharrell, Julian and Santogold, the company's chief marketing officer, Geoff Cottrill, said, "As we celebrate the brand's first century, we thought it would be fun to bring together Pharrell, Santogold, and Julian, to create new music together that bridges the styles they are known for. The music industry is changing and this partnership is about the music and sharing it with fans for free."

Meanwhile, expressing his excitement in working on the new song with those two other musicians, Pharrell, who also produced the track, stated, "I've always wanted to work with Julian and I'm a big fan of The Strokes. Santogold is super-talented and she cares about music so much that it's not just about sound, it's a visual aesthetic." He also added, "Working together on original music that crossed all of our inspirations was completely refreshing and I love the track."

Moreover, revealing the reason he wanted to team up with Converse , Pharrell said, "As for partnering with Converse, I only wear and support the things that I like. The Chuck Taylor is the golden goose egg."
