Jon Favreau Possibly Chooses 'Avengers' Over 'Iron Man 2'
Movie

Coming to the premiere of 'Incredible Hulk', 'Iron Man' director revealed that he prefers to do 'The Avengers' than 'Iron Man' sequel.

AceShowbiz - Following the massive success of "Iron Man" at the box office, Marvel Entertainment have come quick to set the follow-up film, "Iron Man 2". About a month from the release of the first movie about superhero in iron suit, the sequel has started to take its shape with the official release date set on April 30, 2010 and the strong possibility of the principal cast's return and of the future possible villains. But, one other important thing that is still left hanging is the fate of director Jon Favreau.

For weeks, the filmmaker known for his work in holiday comedy movie "Elf" has stated that he is yet to be officially signed to return for the second "Iron Man" movie project despite his excitement. Now, it seems that the 41-year-old may get sidetracked from the sequel. Asked about his interest in working for "The Avengers" during a green carpet interview with MTV at the world premiere of "The Incredible Hulk", the director who appears in a number of feature films stated that he is still very much interested in working for the superhero flick, but insisted that with the tight release schedule between "Iron Man 2" and "Avengers", he may have to choose either one.

"I'd love to [direct 'The Avengers']. But they announced that it's coming out in 2011, and 'Iron Man 2' is coming out in 2010, so there's no way that I could direct both," explained Favreau. "They'll either change the date, or maybe I'll just do 'Avengers' and not 'Iron Man 2,' or maybe just 'Iron Man 2' and not 'Avengers.' I would have preferred for those two movies to be at least two years apart so I could be involved with both of them."

When further being questioned about his preference of the two, Favreau confessed that he is more inclined to go with "Avengers", especially since the movie will be filled with many Marvel superheroes, including Captain America, Iron Man and Hulk. On the reasoning, Vince Vaughn's supporting actor in "The Break-Up" revealed that he thinks that " 'Avengers' seems to be the more fun one". He elaborated saying, "You get to use all the heroes for that one." Regardless of his choice, Favreau noted that he hasn't had a serious meeting with Marvel concerning the two movies.
