The nominees for the 2008 BET Awards have been announced on May 15. On the list, Kanye West is nominated for three categories, Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Video Of The Year and Best Collaboration. Meanwhile, rapper T-Pain leads the list with 5 nominations.
A tough battle is set to be faced by Kanye in his effort to win the 2008 BET's Best Male Hip-Hop Artist category. To get the award, the rapper will be competing with some big names on the Hip-Hop realm, such as Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Common.
Beside Kanye and T-Pain other famous names, that were nominated to take home one of the awards are the likes of Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Keyshia Cole and Alicia Keys. Aside from the nominations, BET has also confirmed some of the artists that will perform at the event, they are Usher, Lil Wayne, Nelly and Mary J. Blige.
The annual awards is held by Black Entertainment Television (BET) in order to celebrate the success of African Americans and other minorities in some major fields such as Music, Acting and Sports. The event was first established in 2001 and since then has been held regularly each year. As for this year, the award show will be held on June 24 at 08:00 P.M. ET/PT.
