Mariah Carey and her reported boyfriend Nick Cannon married this week in a small ceremony on an undisclosed island, according to several media reports.
Mariah Carey and her rumored boyfriend Nick Cannon are married, should the rampant online reports are to be believed. The top-selling recording artist and the rapper-actor, according to Latina magazine, tied the knot on Wednesday, April 30 in a small ceremony on an undisclosed island. The publication cited a source as saying, the wedding was "very impulsive" and attended by a few close friends of the couple, including Da Brat.
While representatives for either Carey or Cannon were not available for comment, a source close to the pop diva told Latina magazine that the wedding was held at Carey's Eleuthera home in the Bahamas, which she has just purchased. Another source, meanwhile, told The New York Post that both Carey and Cannon did not sign a prenup.
Carey and Cannon became close since they worked together in the making of her new music video for one of the tracks from her album "E=MC²". Neither of them officially confirm the persistent romance rumors, but their alleged romance has become the subject of intensive media speculation.
The supposed lovers fueled engagement rumors after she was seen wearing a humongous, gleaming ring on her left hand during the after-party for her latest film "Tennessee" at Cadillac Lounge at Tenjune on Saturday night, April 26.
The engagement speculation was soon confirmed by a source close to Carey. A rep for the jeweler Jacob & Co. in the meantime confirmed to E! News that Cannon worked with the jeweler to design the $2.5 million ring he gave to Carey. "It has a square, emerald-cut fancy light-pink diamond as the center stone that is 10 carats," the representative said in a statement. "It is surrounded by 58 pink diamonds, with two half-moon diamonds on each side."
The representative, moreover, poured cold water to rumors that the ring Cannon gave to Carey was a second hand judging from the fact that Carey's ring looks suspiciously like the engagement ring Cannon gave to his former fiancee, Selita Ebanks.
"Both rings were by Jacob & Co., but this ring for Mariah was custom made by Jacob...I can say definitively that this is a completely different ring. They look a little similar, but this [Mariah's ring] is a one-of-a-kind piece that Cannon worked with Jacob to create" so said the representative.
