Counting down to its theatrical debut on May 2, the much awaited action film "Iron Man" celebrated its premiere in the U.K. on Thursday, April 24 at the Odeon in Leicester Square, London. The special opening saw some of the film's stars, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard grazing the red carpet.
Aside from those star, director Jon Favreau has also made an appearance at the special event which is part of the around the world promotional tour for the film. Commenting about the tour, the helmer stated, "It's great - I've been from Mexico City all the way to Australia, Korea and to Paris, Rome and now I'm in London." On the chance to premiere the film in London, Paltrow also expresses her excitement stating, "It's great to be here, it's very exciting to see everyone turn up and it's nice to be in a place that I call home."
Further, the actress also gave out praises for her co-star, Downey Jr., saying, "He's probably the best actor I've ever met. I've always wanted to work with him, he's great." Meanwhile, Downey Jr. himself used the occasion to talk about the movie, "Jon and I were big fans of what [Christopher] Nolan was able to do with Christian Bale in the whole Batman franchise and they did this very dirty, dark complex take on the superhero. And we thought they did that as good as it can be done so we tried light and simple."
The video footage of the U.K. red carpet coverage, which can be seen below, revealed that there is an Iron Man simulator placed in the famous Square to be enjoyed by the fans all day.
