AceShowbiz - Cameron Diaz has on Wednesday, April 16 issued a statement through her publicist Brad Cafarelli, remembering her late father, Emilio Diaz, who died suddenly of pneumonia on Tuesday morning, April 15. The actress also revealed in the statement her gratitude to those who have extended their condolences.
"My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family," read the statement. "My dad was loved by so many people and his humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts."
Having the production on her film "My Sister's Keeper" being temporarily shut down to give her time to grieve and take care of family matters, Diaz and her sister Chimene, according to E! News, were at their parents' home in Seal Beach, Calif., being accompanied with other family members and a number of friends. A neighbor and family friend told E! News Diaz looked "distressed" and her mother, Billie, was in "deep mourning." The friend said "Their privacy should be respected."
Following the loss of her father, Diaz reportedly has canceled an appearance at an Elton John-hosted party Wednesday night celebrating British GQ, where she's been featured on the cover of its latest issue.
