Mariah Carey will be made the first international superstar to appear on "German Idol", the European country's version of "Pop Idol" that is called "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (DSDS). "I look forward to coming to Cologne, seeing my German fans and performing my new single 'Touch My Body' on DSDS next Saturday," Carey said as translated from German. "I feel honored to be the first artist who was ever asked to meet the candidates from DSDS and help them to develop as singers and artists. Helping talents from the new generation is always a joyful experience for me."
The singer who has also been booked to guest judge on "American Idol", will not only perform but also give tips to the 8 remaining contestants. Her songs will also be the theme for the four female contestants. Those slated to be sung are "Against All Odds", "Dreamlover", "Without You" and "Hero" .
On other news, "Touch My Body" has become her 18th #1 single on Billboard Hot 100 chart, beating Elvis Presley and consequently making her the second all-time artist to have the most #1 singles. The Beatles remains atop with 20 #1 singles but Carey commented, "I really can never put myself in the category of people who have not only revolutionized music but also changed the world. That's a completely different era and time. I'm just feeling really happy and grateful."
