Britney Spears is heading back to primetime, scores a guest role on CBS's "How I Met Your Mother", it has been confirmed.

A representative for the show confirmed that the casting coup is true and Britney's role is, for the time being, slated to be a one-episode endeavor, and will likely air toward the end of April. Report on Britney's starring role on the sitcom was first brought to public's notice by Pink Is the New Blog.

Is a singer, dancer, and songwriter who has spawned numbers of hit singles and albums, Britney is no stranger to television comedies. In addition to a brief run on TV reality show "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic" with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, she has also appeared on an episode of NBC's "Will & Grace", playing a conservative talk show host alongside Sean Hayes' flamboyant character, Jack.

As for her starring role on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother," it is said that she will play a character called Abby, who works in the doctor's office of Ted, the main character played by Josh Radnor. Britney's role is described as "sweet and friendly and scattered and a little nerdy - a female Michael Cera."
