The depicter of Merry in blockbuster trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" Dominic Monaghan has said to be on board the production of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" as Barnell Bohusk a.k.a. Blackwing or Beak. According to Hollywood Reporter, the former lover of "Lost" star Evangeline Lilly has been set to portray the mysterious mutant from the titular character's past who possesses the ability to manipulate energy and electricity.
The joining of Monaghan was announced at the same time of the casting of South Korean model/actor Daniel Henney who was signed to play Agent Zero, a Weapon X program's member who is an expert tracker with lethal marksman skills. Aside from acting along side Henney, the former star of "Lost" will also star alongside earlier cast members, including Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston and Taylor Kitsch.
On the Gavin Hood-directed film itself, it was reported that the principal production will be started sometime this month in New Zealand. After finishing shooting in NZ, the crew then will move to film in Australia. Allegedly, filming will also be done in New Orleans. "Wolverine" is planned to be released worldwide by the 20th Century Fox on May 1, 2009.
