Lindsay Lohan, Amy Winehouse and Annie Lennox are among the celebrities who have signed on to lend their names and images to a hearing loss awareness campaign.
Lindsay Lohan lends an ear to the world, literally. The actress-singer joins numbers of other Hollywood celebrities who willingly lend their names and images to a hearing loss awareness campaign.
Joins the likes of Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, and Joss Stone for the cause, Lindsay strikes a pose for the Hear the World campaign, created to raise awareness about the importance of hearing, which was shot by singer-turned-photographer Bryan Adams.
Some other famous celebrities involve in the cause including, Placido Domingo, Moby, and Harry Belafonte. Each of those celebrity models is photographed with their hand behind their ear to convey an attempt to listen or hear.
"Good hearing is extremely important. It has a lot of impact on personality. I noticed (when my hearing got worse) that my voice changed, and I had to speak more loudly," Belafonte, who has hearing loss, was quoted as saying. "People thought that I was speaking more aggressively, and I didn't mean to be aggressive at all. I just think people should be very, very conscious and protective of their hearing."
The Hear the World campaign is created by hearing device manufacturer Phonak and aimed to call attention to the social and emotional impact of hearing loss, which affects more than 10% of the world's population.
