While it has yet been officially confirmed on why Eva Mendes checked into rehab, new details have emerged about the movie beauty's drug abuse problem.
A source close to the actress told US Weekly, "She kept it all behind closed doors and wasn't really a mess in public. She has a lot of low self-esteem and body issues."
Another insider, meanwhile, claimed that Mendes had a cocaine problem, saying "For a lot of girls in Hollywood, cocaine makes them feel more confident and stay skinny."
Worse than both claims, another report suggested that Mendes is battling an addiction to prescription medication and has suffered blackouts.
It was officially confirmed last Friday, February 1 that Mendes was tackling some "personal issues" and was taking some professional support. It was reported at that time that she'd been receiving treatment at Utah's Cirque Lodge for several weeks. No further details being provided by her people concerning her condition though.
On Wednesday, February 6, reports arose that Mendes had checked out of the program after she was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport. She was later that day seen paying a visit to a friend's house with her boyfriend, George Gargurevich, by her side.
Speaking on that matter, a representative for Mendes issued a statement Thursday, February 7, saying "Eva is attending to some personal business in Los Angeles and intends to return to complete her treatment shortly."
