'Astro Boy' Original Director Replaced by 'Flushed Away' Helmer
The lonely robot tale adapted from Osamu Tezuka's manga has a new director as David Bowers has been tapped to replace Colin Brady in the director's seat.

The manga adaptation film "Astro Boy" will have new director to bring the film to the big screen. Variety reported that the CG-animated movie's helmer Colin Brady is being replaced by "Flushed Away" director David Bowers.

Despite the trading of the directors, it hasn't been mentioned whether Brady who was initially set to direct this $50 million animated movie was out from the film or not. "Astro" is a lonely robot tale adapted from the comic book story created by Osamu Tezuka. It was slanted for release sometime in 2009.

Bowyers was the animator of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". Before joining Steven Spielberg's Amblimation in London, he worked at British studio Cosgrove Hall. His animation credits include "The Prince of Egypt", "The Road to El Dorado", "Chicken Run", "Shark Tale" and "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit".
